PAPERCRAFT STAR CHALLENGE # 99...LET'S USE AQUA!

Welcome Wednesday and another challenge from the Papercraft Star Challlenge Blog. When I first saw this challenge listed, I knew I wanted to make something other than a card. The challenge this week is to use the gorgeous color of Aqua as the main color. It is one of my favorite colors, is it one of yours? Jinny is our Featured Designer this week, be sure and check hers and all the other designer's projects. Our fabulous sponsor is the House Across the Bay. The high quality vintage digital collage sheets are so much fun to incorporate into your projects. I used a Valentine collage sheet to make my tag. I have planned to make a tree for a long time, or rather take a jar and make a center piece using a tree branch. I chose this week and this challenge to do this one. Gather a tree branch and strip it of leaves. Put it in a jar, mine is an older teal one that I bought from the Antic store awhile back, add glass marbles. Next find the punches you want to use, I chose two, the retiring Five Petal Flower and the Blossom both Stampin'Up!. I made flowers from Pool Party and Cool Caribbean cs and Tempting Turquoise dsp as well as some tissue paper which has confetti flecks in it. the tissue paper was from a craft box which I sorted through two weeks ago, what a lucky find. The aqua flowers are two cs petals and one dsp petal, and a brad in the middle. Curl the edges of the petals and wrap the brad around the tree. The white tissue ones have a dsp petal center and everything is wadded up then fluffed out, brad wrapped around the tree. It is an easy process, just a little time consuming!

I made a tag for the tree showing that you can decorate it with any type of paper accents. I could have used the same digital image, 096 Valentine Inchies, using the bird instead of a tag and made this into a decor piece for a baby or wedding shower. The tag however will not stay on this tree and I am keeping this one! I used a punched flower that was stamped with happy birthday, some baker's twine, paper and card stock. I will use it on a gift at a later date. I may use this tree to display some of my favorite small tags! Another picture for a later date!

COLOURQ CHALLENGE # 139...THINKING OF YOU!

Happy Tuesday, I am back with another beautiful color palette from the ColourQ . Arielle has chosen these colors, Crumb Cake, Bashful Blue, Rich Razzleberry, Night of Navy, and white. What do you think of when you see these cool colors? I know you will come up with some terrific designs using the colors this week, I can't wait to see what you do with them! 

I stuck to the picture this week, using Crumb Cake(kraft) card stock for my card base. This card does not have a lot of layers, but I used a stencil to add an imaginary background. I love the honeycomb looking background that I keep seeing. I stenciled it and stamped the bees in Crumb Cake. I stamped thinking of You, in Rich Razzleberry. the cup and flowers were stamped on white cs, the cup in Bashful Blue and Night of Navy, the flowers stamped in Rich Razzleberry and Night of Navy. The flowers were then water colored with the same colors, the leaves in Crumb Cake. Everything was fussy cut, then glued on the card.

What is prettier than a bouquet of flowers in a beautiful china cup? It is hot here so my pansies are just about gone, but I have Vinca's and Day Lilies and Butterfly Bushes blooming! I will post an update of my fence wall sometime this week. The flowers are looking wonderful and you should see my apple mint growing in my water feature! CITY CRAFTER CHALLENGE # 111.... A TICKET TO RIDE!

Hello, I am back early today, as a guest designer for the challenge over on the City Crafter Challenge Blog. I always enjoy guesting for this challenge, thanks Kirsty for inviting me! This week Ros is hosting the challenge," A Ticket to Ride". Your project must include a mode of transportation and at least one ticket! The sponsor is the Digital Paper Shop, who has beautiful digital papers in her Etsy shop. I hope you will play with us this week, for a chance to win.

The card I made used a digital background I received from the sponsor last week. I paired it with more of her digital images, the tickets and the center portion of the card. I used a kraft card base, some hot pink tissue and a rose bud from some trim I was given. Sweet Friend is hand stamped on the side. This card has beautiful soft pinks and browns with beautiful digital papers.

CITY CRAFTER CHALLENGE #110...A ROSE IS A ROSE!

This week over on the City Crafter Challenge Blog, Cheryl uses a beautiful picture of roses as inspiration. The challenge, use roses in your project. How easy is that! Hope you will play along, there is still plenty of time!

Last week, I won a digital sheet from the sponsor, Digital Paper Shop, so I used it for the challenge as it was so appropriate! Look at the beautiful roses, it could not get any lovelier that these! My card base is Blushing Bride, matted with pink dotted paper. I machine stitched the music and roses paper then added some embossed and hand cut doilies. The happy birthday sentiment just seemed to fit this card. I then added a bow, some cs embossed leaves from scraps of left over stamping, and a silk rose from some floral things I found last weekend. These papers made such a lovely card, go check out the sponsor's shop on Etsy!

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. I took a break and had supper, French Fried fresh Gulf shrimp and garden grown(in my garden) blackeyed peas and tomatoes!  The perfect supper according to me! Have a wonderful Monday!

THREE COOL CHICKS...DAY 3...CONFETTI! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Hope you are having a good Saturday during this Memorial Day weekend. I started this card last night for the Let's Get Trendy challenge presented by the Three Cool Chicks, Amy, Julie, and Yvonne! Day 3 was create something with Confetti. Now I haven't ever thought about confetti as being trendy, so this one threw me a little. This is the card I came up with.

The card base is kraft, covered with white cs. I wanted to use some baker's twine just to practice for Day 4, so I measured and punched holes on each side of the cs, then ran yellow/white and pink/white twine through the holes. This made a cool party background that mimics the cones. Do you remember the colored cones and how yummy your ice cream was if you had a pink or green cone? That is what I wanted to do, but I stuck with the chocolate ones and used sherbet colors for my cream! My daughter gave me a present that just happened to be wrapped in hot pink tissue paper. So I punched two different size holes for my confetti. That is one idea using confetti, I have one more card if I get it made in time that uses confetti!

It is another hot day, just perfect for ice cream, cold water melon, or a cold lemonade! Hope you have a fun afternoon!

THREE COOL CHICKS...DAY 2 DOILIES...A TRIBUTE TO OUR VETERAN'S

Last week, I started the Let's Get Trendy Challenge along with the Three Cool Chicks, Amy, Julie, and Yvonne .I am still catching up and last night I started stamping doilies, put them down and picked them up today. I knew what my card would look like and what I wanted to do. When I look at doilies and this cup, I think of memories. I remember my childhood when these things were a luxury, usually handmade, and china cared for and a part of everyday life, a cup of coffee or tea! This card is Day 2, Doilies!

I used a kraft card base which I stamped with Midnight Muse ink and a doily stamp. Next I added two doilies that I embossed with white ep on Ridinghood Red cs. The cup was first inked in Midnight Muse(actually did not use that cup yet), leaving the ink on the stamp I re-inked with black,this beautiful cup was the result! I fussy cut the  doilies and cup out popping them with dimensionals. I used this retired remember stamp, stamping first in the blue, then in the red. I cut my pattern, then cut out my word banner on white and red. I added some red and white baker's twine. So does this card look nostalgic, make you remember days long gone?

I know this is Thursday and Memorial Day weekend  starts Friday, but my card is made in tribute to all who have served and those who sacrificed for our country, and are no longer with us. I am from the generation whose father served during WWII and  Korea and was fortunate that my husband never was called to serve during Vietnam. PAPERCRAFT STAR CHALLENGE #98...HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

It's Wednesday and I am back with another project for the Papercraft Star, "Birthday" challenge! This week you are to make a birthday card or gift bag! Our sponsor is the House Across the Bay, a wonderful place to find high quality vintage and retro digital collage sheets. I am enjoying using them so much in my projects. I am the featured designer again this week and have made, what I think is a wonderful gift bag. I hope you like it too.

I used three collage sheets to make the bag which I recycled from a gift from my daughter, Amy. This bag held a bottle of Texas Olive oil which I enjoy using in my cooking! I hope to go see their site this summer! I love olives as well! The bag is tall enough to hold a bottle of wine, or maybe another bottle of Olive oil. My digital images are all from tHAtB and all my stamped images and supplies are Stampin'Up! I started with a sheet of cs so I would have something to hold my rainbow of digital papers. I used the Vibrant Grunge Squares 128, printing them off and embossing them with white ep. I love the cake in the photo provided as a go to for ideas, thus the rainbow of color and the embossing reminded me of the lace table cloth. I added another layer using LL card stock and a cake from the Come For Tea, 222, collage sheet, machine stitching it to the cs. I embossed the frame with white ep on more LL cs and fussy cut it out. Birthday wishes and a gift for you and two party hats were hand stamped, then mounted it with dimensionals. I added two ribbons and a bakers twine. The roses were printed, backed and handcut then mounted with dimensionals from a third digital sheet, Vintage Flower Seed Catalog, 229. After finishing the bag, I made a tag using the same things, cutting the layers like the cake shown in the picture, then machine stitching them together and tying them with a pice of lucky limeade and Daffodil Delight  ribbons. I added confetti tissue paper, we found in one of craft boxes in the garage this past weekend!

COLOURQ CHALLENGE #138...SOME INSPIRATION!

We have a fun challenge this week over on the ColourQ. Arielle has chosen Crumb Cake, Pool Party, More Mustard, Poppy Parade, and white for you to play with. I am so sorry to see Poppy Parade retire, it has been one of my favorite colors to go to. I hope to see you in the line up this week, each week we have such a good group of projects to view. The inspiration for my card this week was definitely the photo.

The card base is Crumb Cake(kraft) and I matted it with a new(sneak peek) Pool Party dsp. Do you love the geometric pattern?  I matted with Poppy Parade, my white cs. I drew and hand cut a shoe,  almost life size! I then ran it through and embossing folder, of course it had to be flowers. Then I used it as a guide to stamp underneath and scatter the flowers in Pool Party, More Mustard, Crumb Cake and Poppy Parade. That is all I needed to be inspired to put the sentiment, Inspire at the top. This is a fun card and I hope it gives you some inspiration!

CITY CRAFTER CHALLENGE # 109....A SKETCH by LINDA!

Happy Monday, I am later than I wanted to be, but earlier than the deadline posting to the challenge over on the City Crafter Challenge Blog. I have been busily working for the past two weeks with really no break! I did want to get in this challenge as it is one of my favorites to do. You still have a little time this week, so stop by, see the designers projects and Linda's sketch, then whip up a card!

Linda's sketch is rather simple and easy to follow. I used a kraft card base, matting it with a Crumb Cake dsp(kraft). I added another piece of kraft which had an embossed doily in white. I love how the doily is really popped when done in white. I added a white dsp strip that has two stamped and water colored rows of flowers and a piece of red and white ribbon (Riding Hood red). A red checked dsp is matted on the same red cs. I added a stamped frame that holds the sentiment, Hello, it was fussy cut! Last is my flowers, stamped, water colored with inks and a blender pen, then fussy cut. I love, love this card and the colors!

THREE COOL CHICKS....DAY FIVE: WOODGRAIN!

Hi, I'm back. I have been so busy cleaning out and selling stamps this week, that I am behind in everything else. I still have a long way to go before the craft boxes in the garage are gone, but we made a huge dent today. Now I just to get everythingI am keeping put away in an organizational way that I know what I have. This week I did a Let's get trendy workshop put on by, the Three Cool Chicks. I have not done Days 2,3, and 4, but had an idea for Day 5 so here it is. I have until the 31st to do the projects and maybe do some more than once.

First, I have to show you some cool woodgrain. Here is the birdhouse on the wall we worked on a couple of weeks ago. My husband built the birdhouse and I planted Perselane, well today it bloomed again. The photo is not to good as it was getting close to dark, but isn't that blossom cute peeking out of the hole? The rest of my flowers are so pretty.

Now for my card, I used a kraft card base(what else) and stamped it with a woodgrain stamp in Early Expresso. Then I cut and dry embossed a piece of Summer Starfruit cs to make the gift card holder, machine stitched the bottom and glued the back. The flower was stamped three times withRaspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, and Summer Starfruit. They are fussy cut and layered with dimensionals. I added a woodgrain button and a piece of bakers twine. I added a Green Gumball ribbon and a Lowe's gift card my husband got for his birthday. It just so happened when he brought it in for me to use, it was green! I am so enjoying thinking about all the projects in the Let's Get Trendy challenge.
