BLOGGING FROM ROUND ROCK TEXAS, I AM HERE!!!!!!

Blog-Trip-Daisy I am finally moved, but not moved in yet. Our trip after almost two months of packing, was two days. We left Trinidad, Colorado, for the last time, Sunday, June 14th, around mid-day. We had to stop at Walmart, for more straps for the trailer. Over the last few days, my husband had bought all they had so we had to use something else to strap it. With one last stop in Raton, New Mexico, for lunch, we were finally on the first le of our trip. The cats, Bugsy, Daisy, Fluffy, and Tigger were soooo good. Daisy cried for about two hours then stopped.

The winds were high going through New Mexico. The trip was slower than by vehicle only. I was pulling the trailer, my husband David, driving the 26' truck. We had had no sleep so as time passed it was harder to stay awake. There were tornado warnings out for south of Amarillo, Texas, so we stopped for the night at a Days Inn. They take cats. The cats were traumatized. Only Tigger, willingly got out of the cage. Being a Bouncy cat, and due to the fact he has traveled before, he was everywhere. The rest of them hid under the bed until 5 Am when Tiggerand Bugsy were climbing on us on the bed. We were still so tired that we did not get up and leave until 8:00.

Blog-West-Texas The trip should have been 8 hours from Amarillo, but turned into an all day 12 hour affair. The cats were purrfect!!!! South of Lubbock, I wanted to take pictures of the windmills, but I did not want to stop, so I rolled down the window. A chorus of four cats, simultaneously, in different voice ranges, came from the back seat. They objected to the noise. As soon as I shut the window, the meowing seized. It was really funny. I stopped a few miles later, rolled down my window and got a few pictures. The first area was coming off the Caprock, the background was really cool. I had to settle for the flat West Texas Plains and red dust in the air. When it is early morning, the windmills in this area look surreal, like a scene out of Star Wars.

Blog-Trip-Bugsy-&-Tigger Our trip ended much later with our arrival around 8:40 Pm. By the time we got the room set up for the cats, things we needed unloaded, it was really late. We still had to go by Amy's(my daughter), and leave the plants and drop the loaded trailer in the driveway, until today. David was so tired I did not trust him backing it into her garage that late. We did not eat supper again, and still it was 1 AM by the time we got to bed. The cats were up early and enjoyed all the new things t climb in. At present, three are asleep under the bed and Fluffy is on the bed on the sheep skin and my quilt. David is off, unloading the trailer at the storage, and taking care of the rest of the stuff in the pick-up. We both will be getting to bed early tonight getting ready for the move-in on Friday. I hope to get a card made later. We will be unloading my craft things out of the truck later!

COLOR THROWDOWN CHALLENGE # 46

Throwdownswatch46 This week the challenges is presented by Barbara. Her color choices were soft and pretty. Listed in the weekly color pick artwork were Brocade Blue, So Saffron, Certainly Celery, and Bashful Blue. Barely Banana was in the list, but I chose to use the ones from the artwork. I hope you enjoy my card. This is the last card I will be able to post until next week.

Blog-Color-Throwdown# I chose Morning Soft as my stamp set. It is one of my favorites and it is retiring the end of June. Morning Glories have always been one of my favorite flowers. I love to water color them. I chose Brocade Blue for my base card. I used Bashful Blue card stock as well. I stamped the flower twiceon water color card stock with black Stazon. I water colored both sets with Brocade Blue, Bashfull Blue, Certainly Celery, and So Saffron. I just keep layering my colors until I got the color I wanted, then I took a marker and gently ran in more color. I worked the edges in with my blender pen so as not to be too extreme. I cut the flowers out, once around the whole area and the second time just the flowers, no leaves. I cut around petals, taking license, since Morning Glories do not really have petals. I wanted the flowers to be three dimensional. I glued them in such a way that the do indeed stand up off the card.

Blog-Color-Throwdown#a I stamped the bee using one of the Spanish stamps colored it in with So Saffron, then I just had to use a little glitter. I added pieces of Certainly Celery Ribbon and a piece of butterfly trim that I bought at Walmart. I stamped my sentiment and added 3 Chabachon pearls from the Pretties Kit.

Thanks Barbara, for the lovely colors. Thank you and the team for hosting the Challenges. Everyone please go to the Color Thrown Blog and check out the beautiful cards. Feel free to join in the challenge. You will find the challenge listed in Sylvia's Favorites. I will be back with cards soon. In the meantime check for pictures of the final and last day I will be in Colorado. It makes me sad to leave my home. But, since I have been here the longest of anywhere, in the last 40 years(7 years), I know a new adventure is on the horizon.

2009-2010 STAMPIN'UP CATALOG IS HERE IN TIME FOR MY MOVE

Throwdownfeaturedblinkie45 This has been a GREAT DAY, actually one of the best I have had in a long time. Everyone knows that moving can really wear one down. Last night I was up until 2am, because I am starting to panic. When I got up this morning, really tired, I was surprised with congratulations from Leonie and LeAnne on my card submitted yesterday on the Color Throwdown, as the weekly pick. Thanks again Cathy and the team over at Color Throwndown Challenge blog. It is a lot of hard work hosting a place for us to come together. It helped elevate my mood.

Then my realtor called to say the appraisal on my house, never on the market, had gone through. We live in a two story, the bottom floor being a walkout basement, which is common in Colorado. Also common is the bedrooms being on the basement floor. However, with all the new changes it made the appraisal difficult. Since I had buyers ready to move in this next week, leasing until everything else is ready, the hic-cup with the appraisal was just one thing added to a whole lot of other worries which I have been dealing with. So today was my day for good news and blessings.

Blog-Moving  My new order came with the new colors!!! They totally exceeded my expectations. And the new catalog, I really do not have enough time to drool over it. I took time out again to make a card with the new colors. I used a stamp I purchased last month, just for my move. I stamped my house from the Welcome Home set in the new Soft Suede. I used the new textured 8.5" x 11" Bermuda Bay card stock. Then I matted with the new Melon Mambo and Soft Suede,Crushed Curry, and Designer paper Razzleberry Lemonade. I also used the new 1/2" Polka Dot Grosgrain ribbon is Crushed Curry and a new punch. I had a fun time even though my husband told me I needed a nap. Bye for now, I am not sure if I will be able to play tomorrow. I will be leaving with nothing left in this house, hopefully on Saturday.

COLOR THROWDOWN CHALLENGE #45

Throwdownswatch45 WOW! I actually managed to make another card. I have so so missed you guys. I packed this morning and after a very quick sandwich I started on my card. I already knew what I was going to do, so it just meant getting it done. The colors this week are very bright and intense. Some might say intimidating, but because of their brightness, the more imagination the better the card. I really loved the team members cards. All were great, each different from the others. Thanks Cathy, for your colors, Green Galore, Pink Passion, and Chocolate Chip.

Blog-Colorthrowdown1  I chose Simple Friendship StampinUp stamp set. Card stock used was Green Galore(card base), Pink Passion, Chocolate Chip, and Whisper White. Inks used were Pink Passion and Chocolate Chip, and I used a Uniball white gel pen. Sizzlit leaves and embosslit Cherry Blossom dies were used. A texture plate was used to emboss my Whisper white card stock after using  Martha Stewart's eyelet lace punch. I used a piece of rick rack from Hobby Lobby that was a perfect match to the pink, a cabochon pearl from the Pretties Kit, and white beads with a slight pinkish tint from the pink bead duo centered my flowers.

Again, I had a lot of fun making this card. Maybe after so many weeks of packing up the house, cards are just more fun to make anyway. Five more days and we will be loading the moving truck. In the meantime, I still have a lot to finish. Hope you enjoy the card. I have enjoyed the latest comments on my return to the card and blog world. Ya'll be sure and check out the Color Throwdown Challenge website located in Sylvia's Favorites. And again thanks to team member Cathy for this weeks challenge.

COLOR THROWDOWN CHALLENGE

Blog-TY2b I missed the Color Throwdown challenge this past week. I was bummed. I have been so busy that I thought it was closed on Tuesday instead of Monday night. The week I was picked as feature stamper, I was going take a card of appreciation for the team that leads this challenge. What with the packing this is the first time I have had a chance to make the card I wanted to make.

Blog-TY3 This afternoon I took time from packing to sit and make this card for the Color Throwdown challenge team. I used two of the color's from the challenge for the past week, Baja Breeze and Certainly Celery. I added Chocolate Chipand Summer Sun inks. I dry embossed both my card base and my next layer. My center flower and butterfly are stamped then cut and mounted on dimensionals. I really enjoy using the Manhattan Flower set. I will try my hand at some reddish Day-lilies next. Again, thank you to the team for providing yet another place to share our creations. If you have not posted a card to their challenge, give it a try. You will find Color Throwdown Challenge in Sylvia's Favorites in the left column.

RASPBERRY SUITE COLOR CHALLENGE #5

6a00e54ef2e2998833011570765bd3970b-500wi I have had a busy few weeks getting things packed in my house. My son and family came on Wednesday to help clean out the garage and help with the honey do's that required two people. We had our first moving sale on Friday and Saturday. Yesterday, I was so exhausted that I did not work on the challenge until today.

Blog-RaspberryS The colors this week are really pretty. I love bougainvilleas. I did not have the exact colors, so I used Dark Gray, Regal Rose, and Whisper White card stock, along with Charcoal Chalk ink and Regal Rose ink. I used a brighter pink glitter to get my second pink. My stamp set was Manhattan Flower.  The Lilly's were stamped, cut out, and glued, the rose was stamped twice, cut out, and layered with dimensionals. All were glittered with Irridescent Ice. I used a Regal Rose ribbon, the eyelet lace punch to edge my white and mounted that on Dark Gray card stock. The sentiment was stamped with the Charcoal Chalk Ink. My card base was Regal Rose. The color combination was perfect.

Blog-RaspberrtSa I am happy to be able to stamp again and will be even happier to get moved so I can order some of the Papertrey paper. I have so much to move that I can not order anything! Thanks Dawn, for the challenge. Be sure and check out Dawn McVey's blog located in Sylvia's Favorites in the left column. Have a great week and thanks for stopping by. Please leave a comment, I enjoy reading them.

RASPBERRY SUITE COLOR CHALLENGE #4

6a00e54ef2e299883301156f430120970c-500wi I am really late this week posting to this color challenge. I have been packing my things all week which is very emotional for me. Moving is not what I do best and finding time to make a card is really difficult. I also really had to hunt to find a color that was close to Soft Aqua. This weeks colors are  Brown, Soft Aqua, and White. The colors I used were Chocolate Chip, Soft Sky, and Whisper White.

Blog-Rasp2 I do enjoy the challenges. My card base was Soft Sky and Chocolate Chip card stock matted a piece of designer paper. The silk flower had a giant grommet for the center which says fabulous. It defines fabulous as an adjective meaning amazingly good, wonderful, and superb. That pretty much defines a good friend. That was the theme of my card. I glittered the flower and added a Chocolate Chip grosgrain bow.

Have a great week and thanks for Blog-Rasp1 letting me share a card with you. Be sure and visit Dawn's blog, listed in Sylvia's Favorites. She is just finishing up a vacation in Hawaii and has shared photos of her trip.

Throwdownswatch40 This is my second challenge card submitted for the ColorThrowDown. The colors submitted by Barbara Anders are Pretty In Pink, Chocolate Chip, and Sage Shadow. These colors are very soft, very spring, and perfect for a Mother's Day card.

Blog-CTD#40a The stamps I used were Stampin'Up Soft Summer, the flowers, Dreams du Jour, the butterfly, and Great Friend, the saying. I used Chocolate Chip, Sage Shadow, and Whisper White card stock. I used pink designer paper. Inks used were Pretty in pink, Sage Shadow, and Chocolate Chip with a blender pen. Accessories included were the paper piercing mat pack, the 3/16" corner rounder Crystal Effects, Iridescent glitter, White Satin ribbon, glue, and dimensionals. I used pink cabochon pearls, not Stampin'Up.

KRISTINA WERNER'S COLOR INSPIRATION #50

042509-colors Congratulations Kristina, on your 50th color challenge. The colors for this challenge were Brown, Red, Yellow, Turquoise, and white. This is a lot of color, so it took a lot of thought and organization. I pulled out everything I had to make this card, then picked and chose until I had this card. I wanted even my sentiment to express my congratulations.

Blog-#50e I was awarded the Lemonade award a few days ago. It started me thinking about how you can takes lemons, add sugar and make lemonade. The colors were perfect for a beautiful glass of lemonade and what celebration is complete without the umbrella in this non alcoholic drink. So this card is for Kristina!

I used two of my favorite Stampin'Up! stamp sets, Cheers to You and Tart & Tangy. Card stock used was Real Red for card base, Yo Yo Yellow and Whisper White for accent elements. Designer paper used was Tempting Turquoise and Good Morning Sunshine. I used Basic Brown, Real Red, Yo Yo Yellow, and Tempting Turquoise ink. My accessories include Classy Brass Dots embossing plate, Scallop Circle punch, Coluzzle circle, Brown Satin ribbon from Valet collection, Iridescent Ice glitter, a blender pen, dimensionals and Tombow adhesive.

Blog-#50a I wanted to make this card simple, but special. I have not completed 50 challenges, but since I started doing them, my cards have improved. The challenges open my mind and force me to think, plan, and evaluate what I have created and how I can do it better. For this I am grateful because I have grown and will continue to grow. I have also met such wonderfully friendly and truly creative women. When you start something at my age, you need to get better to feel like you are competing with the younger set.  When I was six, I wanted to take piano lessons. It did not happen until I was 13. I was playing with kids that were 6-8, and  had been taking for years. I was embarrassed. My first recital, I was last on the program and the teacher forgot me. I was so relieved, but my parents were not. I learned early in life to compete and to the best of my ability. I want everyone who has entered these challenges to know, that you will reach your goals, if you set them high enough. It all starts with baby steps. Thanks for the chance to share my card with you. If you do not do Kristina's challenges, visit her blog, found in Sylvia's Favorites. If you visit my blog and do the challenges be sure and leave a comment. I love each and every one of you! Have a great Day!
