Greetings and a Happy Sunday, may your day be blessed! I had a full Saturday, but still had time to sit and watch some football. It did rain and rain and yes I always am happy to see it rain. As a child I did not like the rain, as an adult it continued until we moved to Nigeria and experienced the dry season first hand. Water had to be hauled in and it was a reddish brown. It was so disgusting that I told myself I would never wish it not to rain again. Many years later, we moved to Texas and experienced the heat and drought. Not only did the plants suffer, but the animals and birds did as well. I began saving water, so every time it rains, I collect in gallon jugs water for plants and the birds. I know that many of you have rain and gray all the time, but we don't and I am indeed grateful for the rain we do get.
I made a card, Saturday night into Sunday morning, I did not make it by midnight. It has a Pool Party card base and is matted with white. I stamped blue ink using a Work of Art stamp, then I stamped the branch and the bird in brown. I water colored the branch and berries with inks and a blender pen. Christmas Blessings is the sentiment, stamped next. Finally I stamped the bird on a piece of white cs in black Stazon. He was water colored in black and several reds, and his beak and feet a retired citrus color. I fussy cut and glued the Cardinal to the mat. The last step was to emboss snowflakes and tiny dots then I added a few rhinestones.
I love this card, Cardinals sit out all year singing to their mate, did you know they mate for life? This Christmas card is one of a few which I will list in my Etsy Shop tomorrow. I am busy getting ready for our show this weekend here in Austin. All the cards that I mail will be new ones or ones similar to some I have sold this year. No two are exactly alike....which is fun for me to make. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful Sunday!
