POINSETTIA WREATH

This is going to be a short post. I cut Poinsettia's last night and again this morning. I spent most of the afternoon pinning them onto my wreath. I finished awhile ago after a long day. So I am posting, then taking a break. The Poinsettia's and the wreath were not the reason for the day. Dealing with appliance people and repair people is time consuming and rather frustrating. Needless to say, I did not accomplish enough today, but I need to regroup.

This wreath turned out the way I envisioned it. The back side has no flowers so it lays flat very nicely against the french door to my stamp room. I just have several trees to get done in the next week, then I will be finished with my Poinsettia's for the season. These Poinsettia's were more tedious to cut out so the others will be welcome after this project. Again the colors are Real Red, Cameo Coral, Certainly Celery, and Old Olive. Leone, you need to try a matching star wreath! Projects like these are time consuming, but well worth the effort. Enjoy! 

TUESDAY TRIGGER CHALLENGE ... REINDEER PLATTER!

It is Tuesday again and time for another Tuesday Trigger challenge over at Moxie Fab World. This weeks challenge is brought to us by Carolyn King with her submission of a picture from Crate and Barrel of a Reindeer Plate. I am not usually into this kind of card, but found the challenge intriguing! In the platter above, the deer looks like he has just found a Christmas tree for the first time. In my card below, my seasoned reindeer are trying to get home and have been caught in a snow storm. The leader has gotten them lost, and the rest are cold and in that Bah Humbug mood, but they all know they will make it back!

 
 
I used the Holiday Line Up and Four the Holidays stamp sets, along with Real Red, Garden Green, and Whisper white card stock, Basic Black, Chocolate Chip, and Bordering Blue inks, all Stampin'Up! and a white Uniball pen. Other than the design and a lot of cutting, this card was simple and easy to do. It will make a great Christmas card and I know exactly who I will give it to! Be sure and visit the Moxie Fab World blog over the next week and look at all the entries. There are so many talented people.

If you were looking for my wreath tonight, I am still working on it. I cut Poinsettia's until after midnight, last night. I got up and starte again this morning, took a break to make this card, and started again. I will be awhile stamping and cutting the flowers. There will be over 80, I fear! It will be worth my efforts I am sure. 

NEW POINSETTIA CARD, WORKING ON A POINSETTIA WREATH

I awoke to drizzly weather again. As it was cold and wet, Tigger was the only one I took out. Amazingly enough, he was so tired of being in that he wandered around in the rain until I picked him up and brought him in. He is rather bored with this weather! I, however, just stay occupied with my stamping. I spent most of the day finishing up another box with 32 tags. Tying 32 tiny bows out of silver cord was mind boggling. I took a small break afterward to take a shower to try and relax. I started my card late this afternoon. After seeing all the new pictures on the Moxiefab blog, I wanted to do an all white card. However, I am intimidated by using just one color, so I made a card for tonight's post that uses, pink, Certainly Celery, Whisper White, and Gold ink. I have wanted to do another Poinsettia card using these colors.

I used the retired Pink from last year. It reminds me of Cotton Candy. There was not too much to this card, so it was relatively quick and easy. I also started a Poinsettia wreath using the same stamp. I gave up cutting stamped Poinsettia's for tonight and will resume tomorrow. I am tired and cutting is tedious at best when I am not tired. I hope to have at least some of the wreath finished for tomorrow nights posting. In the meantime, check out all your favorite blogs tomorrow. It really helps to get the old brain working!

Amy brought by a cat toy with lots of feathers on it, as well as the tool so I can spackle the wall. David put four holes in the wall yesterday while trying to install the cable cord! I have those to repair as well as fix the wall in the bathroom where he took out the wall cabinet. It was old and rather dated. I have sanding to do tomorrow as well before I can start painting the bathroom. This will be the last room I paint before Christmas. I will have just four rooms left after the holidays! Yeah! I guess then if I don't like the way it looks I can start over! LOL! Tigger just jumped up in my lap and said it's time for bed!  So TTFN! 

CHRISTMAS IN THE OLD COUNTRY A MOXIE FAB WORLD CHALLENGE

  
There were no special colors to use, nor an arrangement of things, only a showing of beautiful things from cards to ornaments that represent Christmas around the world. I finished a card early this week using the stamp I used for this card. The Santa reminds me of an Old World Santa.  He could be Scottish or English, but is definitely Old World. I wanted to post the card I finished earlier, but I had already posted it to this blog, so I made another just for this post and entry.

You must go to the Moxie Fab Blog, this is a wonderful place to visit when you want to see beautiful cards designed by some of the best. Personally, it gives me a lift in spirits when I visit. For this card, I used Real Red, Green Garden, and Very Vanilla Card stock. I stamped in Chocolate Chip, Green Garden, and Basic Black. I used a Sizzix texture plate on the Green Garden matte, used some antique brads and some cut out holly and berries for embellishment. This card has simple lines and I did not want to ruin it by adding anything else. Thanks for visiting and I wish everyone the best for the holidays.

 

HOLIDAY CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT FILLED WITH PEPPERMINTS!

Yesterday, I discovered an ornament on Donna's Blog. I thought it was just too cool, so of course I had to make one of my own. I do not think I will give them away, but use as decorations in places I need to hang something special. You must go see Donna's ornament. As always she has beautiful projects and this one she did with her grandson for his teacher.

For my ornament I used one of the ornament stencils from Stampin'Up, Christmas designer paper, our beautiful Real Red dotted grosgrain ribbon, lots of beads from the bead duo, rhinestones and silver cord. Alas I did not have any M&M's or small candy, so I managed to get 4 peppermints into the treat cups(of which there are two. The back is the same as the front, except I did not put all the beads around the center. It opends at the bottom to empty the treats, by removing the silver cord bow. Isn't this the cleverist of ideas. Thanks, Donna! 

ALAS NO SNOW...... PLENTY OF SNOW MEN AND WOMEN

We have had wonderful cool weather all week. I almost feel like I am in Colorado. Today we were supposed to get snow, as if I really believed it. I have a late sunflower blooming in the backyard and it is still alive, so it was not even close to cold enough for snow. This is Texas, right? So why would I think there would be a possibility of anything more than a few flakes! LOL!

I have been working with snowmen and women all week, but using my stamps to do it. I love this Snowman stamp. It has a written thank you note on the front. If you have children think about using it to make thank you notes for Christmas. I made a boy set and a girl set, then made a matching Christmas card for each set. I finally finished these two sets. There was lots of stamping and cutting! I have more cards to get to tonight and some tags with boxes as well.  For all of you getting snow, I am envious, just a little.

COLOR THROWDOWN CHALLENGE # 71

I went to the Color Throwdown Blog this mornig and knew I had to do this challenge. I did a Christmas tree using Poinsettia's that I stamped and cut out by hand before Thanksgiving. I did not enter it in any challenge and along with my card I made today, it is perfect. If I had wanted to sit and stamp very small Poinsettia's and cut them out, the trees in the card I made would also have been like this big tree. The colors for the challenge were picked by Danielle. The colors for this week are Olive, Red, Brown/Cream, and Pink.  For my card I used Old Olive, Real Red, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, and Pixie Pink. The colors in my tree were Old Olive, Real Red, Cameo Coral, and Whisper White.

The designers cards used the sweet little girls with cherub like faces. I do not have any stamps like those, so I chose the Build A Bear stamp set, Stampin'Up! I think the bear was just perfect. I took license with her clothes giving her stockings, a hat and a cape. What little girl would not like a Build A Bear for Christmas? I hope you enjoy the card. PATCHWORK STOCKING FROM POTTERY BARN, QUILTED IN RED!

I spent the weekend, first painting the living room on Saturday, then Sunday, resting from the painting and cleaning up the mess I made! I went to Tina's blog in the wee hours this morning and looked at the card she had submitted. There are so many challenges out there, but this one is from the editor of one of my favorite magazines. Tuesday Trigger, is featured weekly on Cathy's blog . A picture of a quilted stocking from Pottery Barn and cards designed by Suzanne Czosek and Tanis Giesbrecht were submitted for this weeks challenge. I do not know about you, but Pottery Barn is my favorite catalog and they have such wonderfully creative designers. I guess that is what caught my eye about this challenge. 

Today was such a drizzly, drab day, that creating a card was so much more fun than getting out in the rain. It always takes me awhile to put the right things together.This card is designed like the photo, in a quilt like pattern and done in all Real Red, Very Vanilla, and Whisper White. All supplies used were Stampin'Up except the tiny rhinestones which were in my stash. Besides the button and dotted ribbon, I added rhinestone bling to my quilt. It is one of the Merriest cards I have done of late. I love cards that are pieced or use scraps. My grandmother made quilts until after she had lost her sight. As a child we had so much fun when we went to her house because we could go through her scraps and sew anything we wanted on her Singer treadle machine. This is a fun card, I hope you enjoy it. RASPBERRY SUITE CHALLENGE # 19

I have not played this challenge in awhile. Dawn's colors for Challenge # 19 are Raspberry, Moss, Chocolate, Lt. Aqua, and Lavender. The way the colors swirled in the shirt gave me the idea to lay three colors on a stamp and stamp a background. Hope you enjoyed what I used. Be sure and check out the other entries on the Raspberry Suite Challenge  , there are a lot of cards to go through.

The colors I used, since I do not have the exact ones are, Pixie Pink, Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue, and Pale Plum. These were hard colors for me to translate into a card. I used the pale Plum to stamp my background. My pink is about the same in color, but I could not capture it with the camera. My light is too yellow today. I stamped 2 three-combinations, the green, the lavender and the blue and the lavender, the blue and the pink. It reminds me of variagated embroidery floss. Challenges are always fun and I find that I always learn something. I spent the afternoon listening to the football games and making this card. Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving.

COLOR THROWDOWN CHALLENGE #70 ....... HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Hello everyone, This week Barbara picked some really good fall colors. It was easy to play along. I guess since tomorrow is Thanksgiving, it will be the last fall colors used this season, which is sad. Fall is such a vibrant time of the year. I feel like it has been too short. The colors she chose are Dusty Durango, Elegant Eggplant, and Old Olive. Here is what I did with them. Be sure and go to the Color Throwdown Blog, to see all the wonderful cards. I used a Level 2 Hostess set. The bird, with the patterned wings, the vines with swirly leaves, and the flowers with beautiful detail, could have been used in so many ways. I chose to stamp and cut the birds and flowers out. The vines were done in Old Olive, the bird in Elegant Eggplant. I added brads and a punched edge to complete this combination. My sentiment is from a set that has all sayings. It reads as follows: The truest measure of our thanksgiving is how we use the blessings for which we give thanks. This is a beautiful sentiment. I hope for peace and blessings to be abundant in everyones lives this Thanksgiving. There are so many things to be thankful for each and every day.

CELEBRATING THANKSGIVING EARLY & SOME QUICK CHRISTMAS CUPCAKE NOTES

Today, my youngest son and wife came by on their way to New Mexico. We had an early Thanksgiving dinner, but not the usual one. Since I am cooking turkey on Thursday, we had one of my giant, famous pizza's. The kids love it and it is so easy to make. Along with that we had salad made with lettuce from Amy's garden. She has a lot of lettuce, so on Sunday, I picked some!!!! For desert we had carrot cake cheesecake that came from Junior's of New York. We had a fun time, Amy stopping by for a bit after lunch. Later, they all left. David and I got the kitchen cleaned up and then we both took naps. I guess everyone was worn out because the cats were right there with me! By the way, Natalie, Bugsy says hello!

This evening, I spent time in the stamp room making some 3"x3" Christmas note cards. I made cupcakes, they are a good seller and if they don't sell they make a good gift! I do not know about you, but I have two birthdays to make for in December. Andrew, the youngest, birthday is January 1, so we have plenty to celebrate. These cards are a set of four and a favorite of mine to make. Hope you enjoy them.
