Everyone who came to visit tonight has to have noticed my new blog banner. I am missing my Colorado weather among other things. It is still hot here, 99 yesterday. But this morning it was a little cooler than it has been, but I am still hot!. Each location I have lived always has something you wish you could take to the next. I lived in Colorado for just over seven years. That is the longest I have lived in one place since my husband and I got married. Colorado became my home. I needed a new banner and as I did not have time to stop and stamp one, I decided to look through my pictures that I have on my computer. I decided on two and learned how to combine them in Adobe. That is really good for me. Anyway, looking at all the pictures gave me the idea for this card.
I actually finished the card around PM, but then decided not to post it as it needed to be changed. After watching the new NCIS show, I started working on it again. This card is much better in content than the first. I used the new pearl paint on the first card. I loved what it did to the ink when I stamped it. But, when I went to photograph my card it came up with white blobs all over the card. The light picked up what the eye did not see I could not get a picture of the card in real life, at least I could not figure out what to do with the camera. So I left off the new paint and changed the card. I seem to be changing a lot of my cards lately. Do you do that? Here is my card. It is another card in honor of World Card Day. Tomorrow is the last day of September! How time flies!
When I started stamping, I never thought of it as a way of sharing. I thought of it as an opportunity to use my stamps in conjunction with the crafts that I sell. When I started my blog, it was with networkingin mind, so that I could increase the number of people who might like my cards and crafts that I sell. Face it, our world revolves around making a living and having money to buy the things we want and need. Many of us are baby boomers and never dreamed that at our present age, we would be struggling. Now, I can honestly say that a part of my life has drastically changed. My stamping brought me friends as did my blogging. The greatest support I have other than family are my blog friends.
I had two lovely comments today on my post from yesterday. One is my friend from Australia, Leonie. She is always there to encourage me. The second one is from a blogger, Gwen, whom I hope to know better .Thanks ladies, you made my day! There are days when I do not think that I am reaching anyone. I get discouraged just like anyone else. I have always had a hard time starting over and this new adventure has been no different. Our neighborhoods are filled with people who are too busy to know their neighbors. Row after row of houses embrace our cities, some are filled with people, others are empty. But, when you walk through the neighborhood, you really can not tell which ones are occupied unless you see someone there.
World Card Day is again about sharing, sharing your talents, ideas, and having a good time. I am glad to hear from anyone who plans on going to a function. And what about those places online where there will be challenges as well like Splitcoaststampers. My last message came later in the morning from someone from Tulsa. She sells beautiful masks on Etsy. She sent me a message that she had put my Halloween card on her Treasury List, something new, but it was so nice to be thought of!
The card I made for the post tonight, represents our neighborhoods, house upon house. Our lives are pieced together in the second layer and the last layer, we have reached out and touched someones life. The hedgehog and butterfly are one of my favorite, always a fun stamp to use. Well that is all for tonight. I am going to bed early tonight. I have not been asleep before 3am any night or morning this week. Thanks for all the bloggers out there still coming back to my blog.
Today, made me realize how important things are like World Card Day. For a few hours women can get together, make a card, eat and talk and just forget their problems. I have always known that crafts are good therapy. I really enjoy making a card. I made this guy tonight. It is like the fastest I have ever thought up and made a card. I am sure critics out there will say, "What's the deal? This is not that great a card. If I had had an Eiffel Tower stamp I would have used it as a background." Plan on making your cards on Saturday. Find someone to stamp or create with, then find someone who needs some extra attention and give them or mail them the card. Our world is so full of stress and all anyone can do is live today. Tomorrow will have to take care of itself. Blessings to all of you out there in Blog Land.
I spent the majority of my day getting ready for my World card day events. That meant a lot of time on the computer. I finally got to the stamp room after lunch. I got my table cleared off from the Hallowen I have been working on. Then I worked on the momento each person will take home while I waited for the UPS truck to arrive with things I needed before I could start cutting out projects. He is usually early, but today he was not.
When my box had not arrived by 4:00pm, I got up to check the computer to see if it was still scheduled for delivery and I had a surprise. I sold one of the Sweet Treat Cup Halloween cards I posted on Etsy yesterday. It really picked up my day, but it also meant I would be working on that card, then would have a quick trip out to find the envelope I needed. While I waited for UPS, I got my card parts cut out. He arrived just after 5:00pm and I hurriedly left so I could get to Walmart. I was in and out in 5 minutes, but they did not have what I needed at the store I went to. So I went next to an office supply just around the shopping center. It is really handy living here. Did I tell you, Round Rock is over 80,000 people, so I have plenty of stores! It did not take me long to find what I needed, but alas I had to buy 100 envelopes. I guess all of you out there need to go to my shop on Etsy, and start buying Sweet Treat Cards so I can get my money back on the envelopes! LOL!!!
I headed over to Amy's house after that as I said I would come by and see the finished dolls she has to UPS to Houston on Monday for a quilt show. Visit Amy's Blog to see her beautiful dolls and the wood bases she has been working on. I got home around 7:15pm, ate and went back to the stamp room to finish the Treat card. I just finished packing it up and making a tag that I am sending with it. The picture is not so good as the light does funny things with orange and green and white! Anyway you can see what I sent . I am also posting another not so good picture of my really good skull card from last year which is also on Etsy. It is still rainy weather here and 57 tonight. No it is not cold yet! Tomorrow will be another busy day!
I have been trying to get seasonal cards done. I should have been working on these in July, when alas, I was unpacking! I still need to be unpacking and painting. It was another rainy day. My husband came home last night and was gone again this afternoon. I am always glad to see the rain and my husband. That is why this did not get posted last night. We got a few things done, also managed to take the cats out in the rain. They raced around as they had been couped up since Monday night. I can not take them out alone unless I take them out one at a time. They have too much energy and are too quick for me. Daisy is the calmest, but even she races when it is cool.
I spent most of the morning on the computer and phone taking care of business. After lunch I was back on the computer and still on it when David left at 3:30. I finally got my pictures finished in Adobe so I could post my Sweet Treat Halloween cards on my Etsy shop. I finished up around 7:30, ate supper and went into the stamp room to make this card. I want to redo it as I think this one needs one more thing or something changed. However it will have to wait as I have my World Card Day event to plan and a few more things on the calender. That does not even fit in the painting or the cats. Hope the card starts your brain working! It is time to create!! Let me know when you have something to show!
Here is the second Halloween Treat card. This one pops a little more as I lightened up the card by using different colors and the same techniques except for one. This time I embossed Black embossing powder on white card stock instead of Old Olive, then I used a blue. a green, and a yellow to fill in the tombstone. In real life it looks awesome. This card also uses my technique for providing easy access to the treat without ruining the card. Both cards will be available on Sylvia's Corner soon.
Look for a skull card tomorrow night. I have some painting to do. I have 6 rooms in the house finished, now I have the largest room to start. There is always so much to do and finding balance in my life is not easy. I absolutely want to be finished by Christmas!!!!, at least finished with the house painting. I am setting my goals for each day. Some days I don't make it, but at least I am setting goals. I am trying to make a difference in someone else's life even if only in a small way. Are you getting ready for World Card Day?
This card is a treat card, using the new treat cups from Stampin'Up! My treats are candy corn and I used one of the scarey Stampin'Up! sets. I designed this so the treat could be taken out without ruining the card. I embossed everything with black embossing powder and I really like the results. This was a really fun card to design. I hope to get a second one finished tomorrow night. Keep your fingers crossed, I seem to be on a roll. I hope I am back on schedule so I can post every night. Have a great week everyone!
Thirty-two years later, Stephen D.A. Nelson has a family of his own. We have been all over the world, celebrating his birthday in many places we never knew about. I made this card today, but had the idea some weeks ago and even had the things set out, not knowing exactly how I would finish the card. It is actually a Thanksgiving card, but I am indeed thankful this day as I was 32 years ago when Stephen was born. All my children have a similar story. They were all born in the night time and there was always drama. I want to tell Stephen and my other children how thankful I am to have wonderful, accomplished, and loving children. HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEPHEN! Anyone wanting to wish him a happy birthday as well will find him at Stephen Nelson .
