The challenge on the Moxie Fab World Blog, was to make a card incorporating embroidery floss into your card. I wasn't sure if the floss was to be the main portion or just as a main attraction. I worked on this card yesterday, but last night I did not have enough light to take good photo's so I was Patient(who me?) and waited until this morning. After finishing 3 scrap recipe books this week, patience was anything but me. I am glad I waited. The card below is from the Paper Crafts Magazine page 25, one of our examples for this challenge.
I centered my card around a handmade flower embellishment. It is made using a small oval punch. I punched flower petals from card stock and dsp(two layers) then added a brown circle punch for the center. While waiting for my glue to dry I started my embroidery. I drew out my smile with a yellow colored pencil and completed that. Then I started on my flower. I first made French knots for the center of my sunflower. I want you to know that it took a long time to complete this small center, but I think it is so effective. I then placed the stitches around the center of the petals. The petals were then curled, as my sunflower is just opening. After the flower was done, I put stitching around my red plaid window, added an awning and cut out clouds. The stitching running atop my awning is faux. The tiny strip of paper would not support all the stitches, but the French knots are real.
This was a fun card to make, a fun challenge. The embroidery adds another interesting element to the design of a card. However, it is quite tedious to do embroidery on card stock and paper. Be sure and check out all the entries on the Moxie Fab World Blog, and have a great day.
