Once again, I sit in the front of the computer, later than I planned. I have been fighting fires all day, as my dad would say. Tomorrow would have been his 95th birthday. So in memory of him, I made this card, a happy sunflower card. The Digital Doodles Challenge over on Kathy Martin's Card Blanc Blog, is still open a few more minutes. I think she will be surprised in the morning that I snuck this in. I love this digital stamp that she designed. It is so happy. You too can have this stamp by joining the Digital Doodles Club. It is totally free!
This card has a complete Barely Banana base cut in the sunflower shape. My Sunflowers are glued on top. I printed two very large sunflowers, colored them with ink pens and a dauber and cut them out. The leaves are front and back for eight pieces colored using the same technique. The leaves look nice on the inside and two layers adds strength as well. My bee body is one layer with rhinestone eyes. His wings have an additional layer of vellum which I colored from the underneath so the color would not smear. I used yellow flocking on the bees body and some as well on the center of each petal. I used black flocking in the flower center along with reddish brown beads. I used some linen thread and Chocolate Chip taffeta ribbon for my bows. I added a Be happy card stock ribbon to finish this card. Check out all the entries on Kathy's blog and join the club. Sorry about having to do a black background, but the light and my camera would not let me use anything else. Although, this looks very bold. The card back is there, you just can not see it. Round cards are so hard to photograph. I was also happy that this card will just fit in a standard size envelope! Just the sunflower is 4 1/4"!
