Challenge week 41 on the City Crafter Challenge Blog, "Sew Fun", is brought by Linda Robinson. I promised in my last post that I would make a different sewing card, but I had no idea it would be this soon. Last night when I posted my card for ColourQ, I was unaware of the new challenge. Thanks Linda, as I am having sew much fun making cards using my new sewing paper and stamps.
My card base is Kraft, and my colors are Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Tangerine Tango, Tempting Turquoise, and Kiwi Kiss. I love the colorful dsp and wanted to make this card cheery. My favorite color is yellow, sew I picked Daffodil Delight to water color my sewing machine, and yes, I cut the sewing machine out. I used a zigzag stitch on my mats, I stamped some fancy stitches, die cut a piece of orange felt into rick rack and used a piece of Daffodil Delight pom pom trim. At the top with my ribbon is a pin and a sewing machine needle along with my"sew special" sentiment! Don't you wish you had a colorful sewing machine like this one?
I started sewing at five on my grandmother's Singer treadle. I was given a miniature sewing machine that sewed with a crank handle about the same time. I sewed by hand as well making just about everything fun. By the time I was in 7th grade I could make simple clothes. My mom wanted me to take home economics and I remember being asked by the teacher to help with the sewing as I already knew how. This made me feel sew special. Do you remember how awkward you felt in the 7th grade? By high school I was making my own clothes. So sewing has a special place in my heart. I started my major in College in fashion design and changed it when I met my soon to be husband. I did not think I would ever be a fashion designer after getting married. I ended up designing costumes for a dance studio and later did all the costumes for a production of Snow White, while living overseas. Just goes to show, you never know when the talents you have will be useful! I gave you a little more than a card tonight. Have a wonderful Wednesday, do something to make your day special, sew special!
