It's a new week on the City Crafter Challenge Blog, #53. The host is Linda Robinson with a picture of a very ornate gate. The challenge is to make a gate fold card. It has been awhile since I've made one, how about you? Are you ready to make your card this week? Join in the fun over on the City Crafter Blog, be sure and check out the designers cards!
I started this card last night, getting the card stock cut for a folded 5" x 5" card (5"x10"). I knew what my content would be thus, the bigger card. I got my designer paper pieces cut as well, then stopped for the night. This afternoon I picked up where I left off, but this time it was at the computer. My cardinals were printed using My Digital Studio. I have this stamp set, but the size of the cardinal always limits me on what I am able to do with it. So I went into MDS, sized the birds in different sizes, also flipping them, then printed them out in black and in Cherry Cobbler. I did this so I could cut out the berries(who wants black berries?) I water colored each bird and added some Concord Crush ink to the berries. Then I backed my birds and cut them out. I hand stamped Sweet and punched it out using the new postage stamp punch. On the front of my gate fold I stamped birdcages in black, used pretty white punched borders and lined the front with pearls. My gate is three large punched scallop circles adorned with a hand stamped bird cage, and two pieces of Pear Pizzazz ribbon. I added an antique brad(I pulled off the back pieces so it would lay flat), a key, and some tiny pearls to the brad, key and the bird cage. The ribbon is secured underneath the dsp and through the layers of my scallops so it won't rip out when pulled. I sponged all the light edges inside and out with Early Expresso ink. Hope you enjoy the card! It even has some space for a message, but I probably won't send this one anywhere! Have a wonderful Thursday!
I guess the birds got out of their cage or someone left it open. Now they are playing inside the garden! What do you think? I am having so much fun watching my newest baby cardinal flit in front of my cats, not fearing them at all. You don't have to worry, I will never let them near him!
