This week's challenge, #64, over on the City Crafter Challenge Blog, is brought by Kirsty with Birds of a Feather! The challenge is to make a card with birds or bird cages. You know how much I love birds so this challenge was special to me. You have time, so check out the designer's projects and play along.
I started this card around 3:30 this afternoon. I knew exactly what I wanted to do, but it took some time to pull everything out and get the card pieces cut. I stopped a little before 7PM, to go get a bite to eat with Amy and a trip to Michael's to use my 50% off coupon. By the time I got back it was 9PM, but I felt refreshed and ready to stamp again. I chose my favorite colors, blue and yellow for my card. Card size when closed is 4 7/8" x 4 7/8". It has a Soft Sky card base, with kraft and vanilla mats. I used black stazon, black, Pacific Point, Brilliant Blue, Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeade, and Early Expresso inks. I stamped lines of music, roses, silohuettte birds, and bird cages on just about every part of this card. There is layer after layer of stamping. I stamped more flowers, bird cages and my large bird on separate pieces of Very Vanilla cs, water colored and cut them out. I added pearls to the roses and bird cages. I used my brayer to add ink to all surfaces. Lace punch borders, ribbon, feathers, an ornate metal pin and a fancy stamped label make this card an irresistible beauty. My days spent outside watching the birds was my inspiration. So do you like this color combination? Are they soft enough for those of you who like soft? I hope you have a great Saturday, filled with sunshine and fun.
I spent five hours outside this morning fertilizing and watering. I even grilled a burger for lunch and ate outside. The cats gave up one by one, all except for Daisy, who sat under her favorite bush which was cool and damp from the watering. Around 2PM she gave up as well. I was beginning to wonder if she was ever going in. .......Are you commenting for a chance to win this week's giveaway? Question for this post: Where does your inspiration come from in order to create? I will post what I am adding to last nights card, tomorrow. It is new pieces of 6"x6" paper from the SU catalog. Good luck!
