The challenge this week over on the City Crafter Challenge Blog, #81, is to make a post card. There is also a swap if you wish to join in. I have made a few postcards this year and the latest was a Birthday card. Postcards are lots of fun, and as christmas is nearly upon us, I made a Christmas postcard. Hope you will join in too.
I started with Very Vanilla card stock and rounded the corners. The back of the card is where I always start. I stamped my Post Card first, then my label and my boughs on separate VV cs. I punched the label and cut out the boughs then glued them down. The lines down the center were drawn with a Stampin Writer and my ruler. My reindeer is a Tim Holtz mover and shaper die. Last I rubber the edges with ink. The front side, the scene side, was started by stamping my forest background with the tree stamp. I also stamped a tree on VV cs and cut it out. Next I cut out a strip of plaid dsp and glued it down, rounding the corners last. I rubbed the edges of the card with Pool Party ink coming down in between the clouds to give appearance of a sky. I cut various strips of white cs to look like snow drifts, there are three pieces. I inked these with Pool Party ink. I applied glue and glitter, then glued the drift strip to the card. The tree was rubbed with PP ink and glitter. The glitter used was dazzling Diamonds. The three die cut reindeer were cut out of a song page and brayered with Early Expresso ink. I tied one bow out of red and white bakers twine and added red rhinestone noses. One was glued the others mounted with dimensionals. I added glitter at the feet to resemble the snow drift again. Last I stamped Merry Christmas on a song page and punch it out. I used another punch to punch out the plaid dsp then cut it in half. this card is going to have to be mailed in and envelope, but how fun is this?
So what do you think, are you going to make a post card for Christmas? It was so nice here today. I actually had to bake some cornbread to take off the chill of the house. The cats were racing, even though I found it comfortable. Have a beautiful Saturday! Oh and yes, the carrot cake is delicious!
