I took a break today, starting this card late this evening. I have been in limbo this week, not really connecting with my creative self. I still wanted to be stamping and card making so I have been pulling out all the things I love to play with. Tonight, I decided to play over on the Papercraft Star Challenge Blog. This week's challenge is to make a project that is Victorian. Now that in itself is a challenge for me as I have not really done a lot of things that add ribbon and lace.
I checked out the freebies on the blog, provided by The House Across the Bay, an Etsy Shop that has vintages images. I found this Victorian lady and decided I could design a card around her. I have not designed many cards around vintage digital images, so this is something new for me. I used a Pool Party card base and a piece of designer paper with the colors I wanted to use, some pleated ribbon, a scrap piece of crocheted lace, and a paper rose from my stash. It was easy to download, print, and cut out the image. I hand stamped roses from the Elements of Style(SU) set in black Stazon, then water colored with inks, Pool Party and Pear Pizzazz(SU). After a lot of fussy cutting it was a matter of gluing it all down. Such an elegant image! There is still time for you to play, so go check out the lovely images over on the Papercraft Star challenge Blog.
So what styles do you like? I tend to mix whatever I see at the time I am creating. I probably do best with a clean and simple design with some extras added, but I like to try new things, that's how we get better. Sometimes when I do a different style, I clear out the cobwebs that keep me from creating like I want. Hope you had a wonderful Saturday, I pulled some more Dandelions, not my favorite thing to do. Have a lovely Sunday!
