I'm back with another sneak peek. the day did not go as planned. I did get some hours in on this, and I can hear some of you saying, boy you are slow. What you don't know is I had to start over and recut my pattern and sew all that I did yesterday again. I had too much of a curve so the paper was separating at the top where there was too much stress. I started to leave it and just patch, but then I am a perfectionist and I just could not do it. I may never make another one, so I want this one to be the best that it can be!!! so we are starting with this photo.
This is as much of the parasol I can get in the picture without putting a lot more poster board out. It has five panels and I am just getting started decorating it. Each corner has a handmade flower and a butterfly. Next pictures are close-ups of the corners.
So what do you think now? My son asked me on the phone tonight, and he is about to get his doctorate in biology this May, what a parasol is. I had to tell him it is what the women took to horse races, instead of umbrella's which are actually for rain! He laughed and I guess it was an odd way of looking at a parasol. Mine is going to be quite useful as it will decorate my room nicely. I have wanted to make one since I saw the photo of the new SU parasol stamp. I am really not a frilly sort of person, but this one is going to be pretty, but not gaudy! Well, the weather was cool today and sitting outside as long as I did, I was cold. I have a funny story to tell. Tigger my cat, that always wants to be out was outside with me and after awhile Bugsy and Fluffy wanted in. Tigger was doing his usual running around when he kept coming up and rubbing my legs, which is always a sign he wants something. Well my husband opened the door to go in for a minute and Tigger's run through the door was so fast he beat my husband in. David opened the door back up and said,"Did Tigger just come in?" I said"Yes, he went right through your legs!" It was so funny to watch. Okay, the evening is over and I am off to bed early! Back tomorrow with another update, I don't think I will be finished. Have a wonderful Friday.
