"Here Comes Summer" is the theme this week over on the Papercraft Star Challenge Blog. It is June and already very hot here, so summer brings to mind so many things! However trying to use digital papers to make my card had me struggling this week. I was pre-occupied with the dots from my ColourQ challenge and was slow to get a project finished. I enjoy using the digital images supplied to us by our sponsor, the House Across the Bay. Our featured designer this week is Ros, who used a beach theme and some lovely digital papers. Check out her blog and the other designers creation's this week and join us for this fun challenge.
The summer theme of this card is ballooning, adventure and Father's Day all in one! I used a kraft card base matting it with a blue Vibrant Grunge Square, 128. I added a piece from the French Hot Air Balloon sheet, 106, embossed it with a Tim Holtz ef, watch or clock faces, then rubbed it with inks. In retrospect I wish I had sanded the paper first so that the lovely embossing would have shown up more, but there is a certain mystery about the card. I punched circles from two more of the French Hot Air Balloon paper and one smaller circle from cs I hand stamped, "the sky's the limit", a Stampin'Up stamp. I die cut letters that were stamped first, cut then rubbed with ink. The Paris label was cut out, then I added a burlap string and a button from the new Wood Grain button collection(SU). Ballooning would make a wonderful summer time event even though I know it can be done all year. I have never been up in a balloon, but wish I could have done that! It would have been a great summer adventure!
The digital images used on this card are some of my favorites. I always love using images of balloons and ships on my Father's Day cards. I hope to see some fun summer cards from you this week! Have a wonderful Wednesday, hope you are enjoying the first days of summer!
