I am surprised that there isn't an owner day, as we surely belong to our pets, not the other way around. Welcome to my tribute to National Pet Day featured on Typepad. Since I was very little I have been so fortunate to have love so may cats along with a few rabbits, hamsters, fish and even a couple of dogs...my children's. I don't even begin to count the number as some were young when we lost them, some older. But one thing is for sure, they were all loved and well cared for.
My blog is normally devoted to crafting, stamping specifically and card making, but today here are just a few of my feline friends. I do have a pet frog although I have never gotten a photo of him, I do enjoy his singing on a warm summer night.
PJ...the one and only cat, my best friend for so many happy years, good traveling companion, good brother to Tigger, sitting here on the patio fence I built in Colorado. We spent our mornings watching the hummingbirds and butterflies until everyone got bored and went off to chase lizards, mice and rabbits. PJ was short for pajama cat as he looked so perfect in his footed pajamas.
My wonderful New Mexico, Tigger, who was with us 12 years...a move from New Mexico to Colorado and then one to Texas. He went from owning the whole woods in Colorado to climbing the tree in the back yard to see the world beyond those dreaded wood fences. We lost him to cancer in 2013. He however was not a good traveler, the minute we left the house whether going to the vets or on a move, he managed to smell the car so that we had to stop and clean out the carrier....we still loved him very much.
This is Miss Fluffy, a sweet mild tempered cat always ready to play, a great hunter from Colorado...she could have been a bear in her former life! Good sister to Miss Daisy, however always picked on...but still with us.
Always the life of the party, Miss Daisy was everyone's favorite...spunky like Tigger and always right by his side. Sisters seldom could be seen together...when they were it was fighting over something!
Just the three of us...napping in Colorado!
Baby Bugsy...another Colorado native and hello on wheels!
What a sweetheart, Tigger Jr came into our lives just a week after big Tigger left us. He was a rescue kitten from a shelter, he weighed a little over 3 lbs and he was 9 weeks old. Sick and thin, he had been on his own, lost and frightened. To this day and he is four now...he is still frightened by any kind of sudden noise, but not the vacuum, would rather eat melted cheese than cat food, although he loves dry food. He chases the girls, his favorite being Fluffy, maybe they share their furriness!
My family today is almost purfect....eating time has become a chore. My husband feeds in the morning and by trying to get Tigger to come to the breakfast room, he has quit coming altogether. He used to sit at the breakfast room table waiting to be fed...a single thing out of place and he will not enter the room...you talk about having phobia's. But we love all four and miss the other two. Tigger Jr does sahre one thing in common with Big Tigger....his love of baseball, especially the Texas Rangers.
Thanks for your patience today, in posting and being so long winded...but that is what family is all about...remember those brag book's? Have a wonderful reswt of your day...leaving you from an overcast, stormy day in Round Rock Texas!
